It looks and feels old quite old, but, he is recently made. He is not made perfectly, in fact, made to look like it was on a base at one time, but no, it does not have a base, but will stand up on its own quite well with a little encouragement :)
9’’ long x 7 1/2’’ high ( ear to bottom of legs)
Made of aged and worn viscose fur with German glass eyes.
